World Mental Health Day

Get ready for World Mental Health Day 2020

This year has been a tough one for us all. The months of lockdown and loss have had a huge impact on our mental health.

We know that many have developed new mental health problems as a result of the pandemic and, for some of us, existing mental health problems have gotten worse.

According to our research with over 16,000 people we know that more than half of adults (60%) and over two thirds of young people (68%) said their mental health got worse during lockdown.

This is why prioritising mental health has never been more important than it is now.

So this year, we want to bring everyone together to Do One Thing to mark World Mental Health Day.

We’ll be sharing examples of different ways people can #DoOneThing and get involved with the campaign.

On World Mental Health Day 10.10.2020 we want to let as many people as possible know that we’re here for everyone with a mental health problem. We’ll be encouraging people to get involved with the campaign by doing one thing for better mental health and sharing tips and information for self-care.

Our Wellbeing Peer Support Groups have spoken about how the weather/seasons can affect mood and how active we are – our mental and physical health. We worked together to compile this list of indoor activity ideas for World Mental Health Day #DoOneThing. We hope that this inspires you to either try something new, revisit an activity you have enjoyed before, or gives you ideas to share.

How to get involved

World Mental Health Day is a great time to raise the profile of your local Mind in the community and spread the word about your work.

We will be promoting World Mental Health Day in a number of ways across England and Wales every day as from the beginning of September.

To help you mark the day we have created some resources for you to adapt and use online and in your local Mind.

Assets for the campaign:

We’ll be posting on Mind’s social media channels throughout the month, directing people to mind.org.uk/DoOneThing where they can access wellbeing tips and information resources so we’d love if you can also share this content to your followers.
