Sophie’s charity walk for North Kent Mind

Donate to Sophie’s GoFundMe on behalf of North Kent Mind

‘My new years resolution for 2021 was to push myself and do something that would challenge me. So, I decided on setting myself the goal of two long walks. The first one will take place on Sunday 11th April, where my dad and I are attempting to walk a 28 mile stretch of the River Medway, starting in Tonbridge and ending at Rochester castle. The second walk will hopefully be the circumference of Jersey island, a 48 mile walk, sometime in the summer (COVID permitting).

I would greatly appreciate any donations and I have chosen a charity (North Kent Mind) that has true meaning to my family and I, as I myself have had anxiety since my early teenage years. It affects my life and my loved ones on a daily basis, I’ve lost aspirations and even hobbies to my anxiety over the years. It has made some of, what should be, the best time of my life the most difficult. I’ve also experienced mental health issues from a different perspective, as a supportive family member, who at times can feel helpless when trying to care for my gran.

I think, especially because of what the last year has caused people to experience, everyone knows someone or has themselves experienced mental health issues. This is why I have chosen North Kent Mind to raise some money for a charity, whilst accomplishing my new years resolution, because no one should ever have to experience mental health issues on their own.’

A Hedgehog Named Bob

Calli Malpas is a local musician and supporter of North Kent Mind, who is kindly donating the proceeds of all iTunes sales of her song ‘A Hedgehog Named Bob’ to our organisation. She hopes that the song, in which she describes her own mental health experiences, will help raise awareness of mental health and raise money for us.

Thank you

Well-being volunteer, Olivia Cheale and her mum dropping the care packages they put together for some of our most vulnerable service users.

They dropped the boxes to support workers drive, with socially distanced and done safely. I understand that these were well received.

Olivia had some of the money given to her from Dartford Deeds but they topped up the boxes themselves.
