November marks Men’s Health Awareness Month, or November marks Men’s Health Awareness Month, or Movember, as it’s also known. Why is Men’s Health Awareness Month important? Four in five suicides are by men, with suicide the biggest cause of death for men under 35. In 2022, men aged 40 to 54 had the highest suicide rates in the UK. In 2017, 12.5% of men in the UK were experiencing some form of common mental health condition. Nearly three-quarters of adults who go missing are men. Men are nearly three times as likely as women to become dependent on alcohol and three times as likely to report frequent drug use. One conversation can make a big difference. North Kent Mind have been successful in an additio North Kent Mind have been successful in an additional extension to continue delivering our Short Intervention Therapy (SIT) service to children and young people aged 5-18, and up to 25 with SEN needs in Medway. The service will include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Creative Therapy support, using both one to one and group therapy interventions for each therapeutic approach. Our Children and Young Persons (CYP) team are now recruiting a therapist to help deliver this service. Accreditation is preferred but applications will be considered from those who are currently working towards their accreditation. The post is part time, 12 hrs per week and will be based only in Medway.
