About the Opportunity
North Kent Mind is excited to offer four opportunities for Child and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) Trainees within our Children and Young People’s Service.
These posts form part of the NHS England-funded Children and Young People’s Psychological Training Programme and provide an opportunity to combine clinical practice with postgraduate study.
Successful candidates will complete the Child and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) PGDip at King’s College London while gaining practical experience delivering evidence-based interventions to children, young people and families experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
Child and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioners work with children, young people and families experiencing a range of emotional wellbeing concerns, including anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties. The role focuses on early intervention and prevention, helping children and young people access support at the earliest opportunity and reducing the risk of difficulties escalating.
Working within a supportive and values-driven service, trainees will receive regular supervision throughout the training year and develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to build a career within children and young people’s mental health services.
This is a unique opportunity to gain a recognised postgraduate qualification while making a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people and families across Kent and Medway.
About You
Essential Criteria
The successful candidate will:
- Meet the entry requirements for the Child and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) PGDip.
- Demonstrate a commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
- Be passionate about delivering accessible, evidence-based and person-centred support.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to balance academic study with clinical practice commitments.
- Be enthusiastic and motivated to develop specialist skills in early intervention mental health support.

The post will be based within North Kent Mind services; however, successful candidates will be required to attend teaching at King’s College London’s Denmark Hill Campus throughout the training year.
