North Kent Mind is seeking an experienced and motivated Head of Finance to lead our finance function and play a key role in shaping the future of our growing charity.

As a trusted member of the senior leadership team, you will provide strategic and operational financial leadership, ensuring our resources are managed effectively, transparently and in line with our mission of supporting positive mental health and wellbeing across North Kent. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified finance professional who wants to combine strong financial management with meaningful social impact.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Finance will lead the organisation’s financial management, governance, planning and reporting. You will oversee budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, cashflow monitoring, audit preparation, compliance and financial controls while providing expert advice to senior leaders, trustees and budget holders. 

You will manage a small finance team and work closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, Treasurer and Board of Trustees to ensure informed decision-making and effective stewardship of charitable funds. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the finance function and developing a high-performing finance team.
  • Producing and presenting monthly management accounts and financial reports.
  • Supporting strategic decision-making through robust financial analysis and insight.
  • Leading annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Managing year-end accounts and external audits.
  • Ensuring strong financial controls, compliance and risk management.
  • Overseeing cashflow and treasury management.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial systems, processes and reporting. 

About You

We are looking for someone who is both technically strong and passionate about making a difference.

You will be:

  • ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • An experienced finance leader with a proven record of managing teams and improving financial systems.
  • Experienced in charity, not-for-profit, public sector or SME finance environments.
  • Knowledgeable in charity finance, including restricted and designated funds, Charity SORP, grant reporting and audit requirements.
  • Confident in presenting financial information to senior stakeholders, executives and trustees.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and accounting software, including QuickBooks Online and Sage.
  • An excellent communicator who can build positive relationships across all levels of an organisation.
  • Committed to continuous improvement, integrity and supporting organisational success.
